APW - Illinois, Stuart, Model 3, 17J, 18S, massive 14K gold (tested) OF original "S&D" case, bow with chain guards, gold cuvette, white enamel DS dial with Old English font "Illinois Springfield Watch Co" signature and fancy Roman numerals, transitional style SW-LS with retained KW arbor, gilt mvt, s#51335. Gross weight of assembled watch 95.2 dwt (148.1 g). A beautiful heavy gold cased example of Illinois' top quality early grade, the present piece being among the very early end of Illinois' Model 3 production.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous gilt plates, few fine to micro-fine scratches to barrel bridge, mild oxide to regulator; excellent dial with faint outer chapter hls at 1 and 4:30, infinitesimally small flake to lower right corner of center section; excellent hands; case shows very light wear, no dents or dings, excellent engine turning detail overall though with a thin ring of full loss to rear shoulder; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
